Today was my nasal vaccination day! This is a six-monthly routine of getting booster doses intra-nasally. The injectable vaccine is annual, but the nasal drops are far more convenient, and so are more popular, even if it means double the frequency, and also a marginally lower effectiveness. The vaccine formulations change frequently, just like the regular flu vaccines earlier. Some of the currently available injectable vaccines are combined tetravalent flu + COVID-19 vaccines. I suspect the flu virus changes more than the COVID-19 virus, but I don’t know for sure. Anyway, it is advised to take the right one suggested for the year. I wish we could take this at home rather than have to go to the centres to have it administered, but the issue is that not everyone might be able to take the drops correctly. That might be even more dangerous, inadequate protection, but a false sense of protection in the mind of the person.
